GENESIS rdX Series Tipping Bucket

The SBS Tipping Bucket precipitation sensor features a unique aerodynamic design that enhances measurement accuracy by capturing more rainfall than traditional cylindrical gauges. Precision-engineered to minimize out-splash and evaporation losses, the SBS has been extensively tested to optimize the funnel's depth, diameter, and angle for field accuracy. Constructed from coated aluminum, the SBS is suitable for installation in harsh conditions. The funnel’s interior is precision glass bead shot-blasted to break the surface tension of raindrops, further improving measurement accuracy.

Manufactured and assembled by EML in the UK, the SBS is robust, versatile, and compatible with all modern data loggers and event recorders. Developed over ten years of field research, the sensor includes a self-emptying mechanism for continuous operation, enhancing efficiency and reducing maintenance needs. It features dual, removable reed switches for easy maintenance and flexibility.

The SBS provides measurement resolutions of 0.1mm, 0.2mm, and 0.5mm, complies with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standards, and is a recognized choice of the UK Met Office, ensuring global relevance in meteorological monitoring.
