NORTEK AWAC

The Nortek AWAC (Acoustic Wave And Current Profiler) is a high-precision instrument designed for measuring waves and currents in marine environments. It utilizes Doppler technology to simultaneously record surface wave characteristics and profile water column velocities with exceptional accuracy. The AWAC employs multiple acoustic beams to detect wave heights, directions, and periods while profiling current velocities from the seafloor to the surface.

Its robust construction allows deployment in both shallow coastal waters and deeper ocean applications, making it suitable for both short-term and long-term use. Nortek offers several AWAC models, each tailored for specific operational depths:

  • AWAC 1 MHz: Suitable for shallow waters up to 30 meters.
  • AWAC 600 kHz: Designed for mid-range depths up to 70 meters.
  • AWAC 400 kHz: Ideal for deeper waters up to 100 meters.

These models address a variety of research, commercial, and governmental needs, from nearshore coastal projects to offshore energy site monitoring. All models come with Nortek's user-friendly software, allowing for effective data configuration and visualization. Users can choose between real-time data delivery or post-processing, depending on their requirements.
